2016 Cultural Summit- Call for Artists and Performers!

132199651120110925191231-call4artistsRichmond Hill is seeking submissions from local visual artists and performers of all ages who are interested in showcasing their works at the third annual Richmond Hill Cultural Summit.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, December 18, 2015. To apply, send an email with the required submission information to culturalplan@richmondhill.ca using Cultural Summit Visual Artist and Performer Call in the subject line.

Submission Information for Performers
Whether you’re a solo musician, theatre artist, band, poet, dancer or comedian, performers from all disciplines and of all ages are encouraged to apply! Performances will likely range from 5 to 15 minutes and honorariums may be offered.
· Name(s) and Address
· Number of people in your performance
· Small paragraph describing what you’d like to perform (Please Note: maximum 250 words)
· Minimum/maximum technical requirements
· Link to support material, such as website, Facebook page, group page, etc.

Submission Information for Visual Artists
Visual artists are asked to select ONE piece of work for submission that best reflects the theme of Vibrant. Submissions will be hung on art grids and artists are granted permission to sell their artwork. Proceeds from any sales will remain with the artist.

· Medium/Discipline
· A jpeg image of the submission
· Title of Piece
· Dimensions of submission
· Price
· Link to support material, such as website, Facebook page, group page, etc.

Please Note: Priority will be given to Richmond Hill residents but all York Region artists may submit an application for consideration.

Celebrate Culture Days in Richmond Hill!

culture daysRichmond Hill welcomes back Culture Days!  From September 25-27 come together to explore, discover and participate in free cultural  activities throughout the town.

Now in its sixth year, Culture Days is an annual three-day national celebration, during which hundreds of thousands of artists and cultural organizations in hundreds of cities and towns come together and invite Canadians to discover their cultural spirit and passion.

Dozens of free, hands-on, interactive activities will take place across the town. Discover the world of artists, creators, historians, architects, curators, designers and other creative people in the community.

Mayor’s Endowment Fund for the Arts

The Mayor’s Endowment Fund for the Arts supports art activities that take place within Richmond Hill or serve to enhance activities undertaken by individuals or arts organizations in Richmond Hill to promote the community. Funding may be granted for events that promote education, new works in theatre, dance, music (including composition and new play development), presenting opportunities, touring opportunities, children’s programming and organizational development. The Fund will award grants for projects that will be completed within 12 months of the date of application. However, as the Fund continues to grow, applications for multiple-year grants will be considered.

Call for Applications

Applications are due by Friday, June 12. An Information Session is being hosted in Council Chambers at the main Municipal Offices(located at 225 East Beaver Creek Road, 1st Floor) on Wednesday, May 27 at 7:30 p.m.

Mayor’s Endowment Fund for the Arts Application [PDF]

*Please Note: This application can be completed and submitted online, as well as by mail and fax.

Eligible Costs
The Review Committee will award grants to help with the following costs:

  • Artist fees
  • Commissioning of new works
  • Venue rental
  • Production costs
  • Touring costs
  • Marketing and marketing consulting fees
  • Material costs (for visual arts)

    The Fund will not cover fundraising expenses or general organization administration costs. The Fund will not award grants to help with operating deficits or make contributions to existing or new endowment funds. The Fund will not cover any costs related to conventions or travel.

    The Fund will be paid out in two parts: 50 per cent upon approval of the application and 50 per cent upon review of the Final Report.
